“Nope” movie poster done in the style of traditional Japanese poster design. Poster 2/3 for my capstone project “How Cultural differences and symbolism affect a country’s movie poster.”

This poster reimagines Nope through the lens of Japanese design philosophy—where atmosphere, balance, and visual poetics take precedence over direct representation. Stylized imagery and expressive gradients reflect both the film’s emotional texture and the rich visual language of Japanese media and traditional arts. Typography here is not just functional, but sculptural—playful, rhythmic, and integral to the composition. Rather than spelling out plot or genre, the design leans into ambiguity, evoking mood over message. It invites interpretation while still capturing the film’s essence—selling the experience, not just the story.
